Lilo and Stitch are stars in their own right
Lilo and Stitch-Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride(English)
When Lilo and Stitch was on its way back in 2002, no one really knew what to expect. The poster merely said “There’s one in every family” with a picture of what looked like a blue dog with pointy blue ears with many of the most loved Disney characters sitting in the background. So the question was what was the film going to be about, many Disney peeps or a spin off of all things Disney?
The real truth is that it was none of these. Stitch was actually an aggressive alien from another planet who was turned good by Lilo's love for him. This film was set in Hawaii and the film was nominated for an Academy Award and recieved a huge following. So fo course Disney saw this and soon after another film was released along with a television series based on the poular franchise. Disney had done something that they hadn't achieved in years. It was a film much like the Jungle Book in the way the entire family could sit down and watch it.
Stitch is now of course put over everything Disney from t-shirts to the theme parks that Disney have. What was it that made this film such a success, the fact that it was set in the beautiful Hawaii or that Stitch appeals to both boys and girls?
Stitch has a ride of his own at Disney World Florida along with being in many of the shows. Hoodies, cups, t-shirts, pins you name it Stitch spotted on it. If you still have not seen the original film it is worth a watch even if it is just to see what all of the fuss is about.
Of course you could go on one of those Hawaii holidays to see the island from the films. USA holidays are great for the entire family and if you are looking to meet Stitch himself then Orlando holidays is where you should be looking to go.
The real Tinkerbell revealed
Many believe that Tinkerbell – the fairy who appears in the 1953 Disney’ Peter Pan movie – is a creation of The Walt Disney Company. Not so. Tinkerbell is a character that was created almost half a century before the Peter Pan movie was released.
Tinkerbell, also known as Tink for brevity, is a fictional character that first appeared in a 1904 play by J M Barrie and later in a novel he wrote entitled Peter and Wendy that was published in 1911.
J M Barrie described Tinkerbell as a fairy who mended kettles and metal pots and pans just like an actual tinker would. Her dialogue in the play and also later in the novel is made up of the sounds of a tinkling bell, which is understandable only to those familiar with the language of the fairi. Though sometimes ill-tempered and vindictive (for example she coaxes the Lost Boys to shoot arrows at Wendy), at other times she is helpful and kind to Peter. The extremes in her personality are explained by J M Barrie in the story as being due to the fact that her small fairy size prevents her from holding more than one feeling at a time, so when she is angry she has no counterbalance such as compassion or kindness.
At first Tinkerbell was only a supporting character described by J M Barrie as “a common fairy”, however – following her success in Disney’s Peter Pan when children the world over fell in love with her animated incarnation, Tinkerbell has become a widely recognized as the unofficial mascot of The Walt Disney Company and recently as the centerpiece of its Disney Fairies media franchise including the direct-to-DVD film Tinker Bell.
Tinker Bell was originally part of the Disney Princess franchise but she was removed from this in 2005 to take her place as the central character of the new Disney Fairies franchise. At Disneyland, a Pixie Hollow meet-and-greet area opened in 2008, where guests are able to interact with Tinker Bell and her companions.
Tinkerbell has fans the world over and many websites are dedicated to this delicate yet mischeivous fairy. For example at sites like Fairy Coloring Pages you’ll find the best Tinkerbell coloring
Interestingly, the copyright to the Tinkerbell character is owned by the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, England. A bronze statue of Tinkerbell appears at the hospital’s entrance to commemorate the fact that the Scottish born J M Barrie bequeathed the copyright to the character to the children’s hospital upon his death in 1937.
Awaiting Disney’s Princess Tiana
Disney fans the wolrd over are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the latest Disney movie – The Princess and the Frog starring Princess Tiana.
Princess Tiana is the protagonist of Disney’s upcoming 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. The film has a limited release date in the USA (in NY and LA only) as the 25th November and will be released in US theaters on December 11th. This film also marks the return of Disney to traditional hand-drawn animation and will bring to fans the 9th Disney Princess. The latest member of Disney’s Royal Family, Princess Tiana, is the first Disney Princess to come along in a long 11 years – with the last Disney Princess being 1998’s Mulan.
The Princess and the Frog movie storyline centers on young Tiana, a young woman living in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the 1920s Jazz Age and a prince named Naveen who has been transformed into a frog by the evil voodoo magician Dr. Facilier. The story features a trumpet playing alligator, a love sick Cajun firefly and a host of other adorable characters at every turn.
At the recent Toy Fair in the USA, a preview was given of the Disney merchandise that will accompany this feature film. With vibrant and regal colors like purple, green, gold and blue, the toys will evoke life in New Orleans and the bayou, where the film is set. The extensive Disney collection includes dolls, playsets, role-play items and costumes as well as colorful accessories.
The Princess and the Frog Tiana doll ($25) from Mattel, will probably be the most popular toy from the line. Just as in the story, the beautiful Princess Tiana wears her sparkly blue ball gown and comes with her frog Prince Naveen. The fiber-optic gown lights up and the doll and frog interact! In addition to the signature Princess Tiana doll, Prince Naveen and Princess Tiana will be available in wedding attire.
Websites centered around Princess Tiana and the movie have already begun to appear. Of note are those that applaud Disney’s choice to feature a black princess (Disney’s first) and other sites that offer coloring pages, printables and paper crafts that feature Disney’s latest Princess.
Would you like to really impress your grand-daughters? Little girls of all ages, maybe even you, will enjoy the many, free, printable coloring images of Princess Tiana (plus party invitations, various paper crafts and party room decorations) available from Princess Tiana Coloring Pages a site that has the best Princess Tiana paper crafts.
As we anticipate the movie’s release, Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Princess Tiana in the movie gives us a glimpse into the princess’ character. Tiana is a “diamond in the rough” who will have to learn some lessons before she reaches true princess status. She is a motivated, determined and independent young woman. She wants to do things her way, without anyone’s help. “She’s a strong young lady who doesn’t need anyone to do things for her,” says Anika Noni Rose. “She is keen to do things for herself…”
Blu-ray Discs – Disney
I couldn’t imagine my childhood without Disney Movies. Some of my fondest memories are directly linked to the Walt Disney classics like Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and Snow White. Now that this children’s entertainment company has grown, there are more Disney movies available to own as both DVDs and Blu-rays.
Each tale is unique and you are certain to find a favorite or two among the many films that have been created over the years. Disney movies offer something for everyone no matter what your age. I love watching the older films but the newer productions are nothing short of astonishing.
I am continually amazed by the incredible artistic feats that the Disney movies display which are best shown off in the new Blu-ray disc format. Considering that I remember Snow White when it was in the theaters, I can attest that I have had my fair share of films to compare. While I will always love the genuine beauty of the classic cartoon drawings, there is something truly astonishing about the computer generated images found in today’s Walt Disney productions.
No matter what, I find that children adore Disney movies no matter what kind of approach the animators use. The stories are so compelling and original (not to mention entertaining) that children of all ages will enjoy each and every one of the films. This includes the older ones that retain such charm.
Now that I’m a parent, I make sure that my little ones have all of the same wonderful experiences with Disney movies as I did. Creating your own collection of Walt Disney films may take a little time and effort but it is worth everything that you put into it. I love that I have many of the classics available any time at all.
This is especially good news for the kids. They have a chance to see classic Walt Disney movies like Bambi in the comfort of our home. These films are not seen on television and they are not re-released in theaters. However, they are readily available whenever the kids would like to enjoy them.
Shareholders Ask Disney Pixar To Make Films More Commercially Friendly
Traders in Wall Street have voiced their concerns over the commercial strength of Disney Pixar recently. Many quality films have come out of this company over the last couple of decades but there are lots of people that think they have lost their commercial edge these days.
The news follows the release of their last two films, WALL-E and Ratatouille, which have been the studio’s two worst performing productions. The problem is not that they are unable to make profits, just that there are other companies biting at their heals, including the growing monster that is Dreamworks. Their new film ‘UP’ has recently been released and the criticisms of previous films have continued with this one.The general consensus is that there is a clear lack of characters that transfer as well into merchandise sales as some of their previous productions, e.g. Mickey Mouse or the productions of their competitors. Dreamworks have had a great run recently with films such as Shrek, Wallace and Grommit and their newest release Monsters VS Aliens. These movies feature talking creatures or animals that are endearing to children and also have clear marketable heroes and villains. Toys, books, DVD’s, clothes even more obscure products such as dolls houses, all go towards making up the films overall profits. The ability to push these products is what pixar have been failing to do as of late and this is arguable down to their choices of story and characters.
The counter argument to this has been that Pixar are more interested in creating worthwhile and high quality films than selling pointless toys from their productions. They would rather be able to promote the buying of educational toys rather than cheap tacky stuff. There is however the ever present pressure being put on the company by shareholders and associated businesses to raise profits year on year.Pali Research’s Richard Greenfield has downgraded the shares of Disney to sell this month just gone, stating that a predicted high risk of commercial failure is the reason.
Does Disney know about the Lion King Subliminal Messages?
Welcome to this short article outlining the recently discovered Lion King subliminal messages. We are going to discuss the mass placement of subliminal messages within the popular Disney movie – the Lion King.
The best example is from the scene aprox half way through the movie where the stars in the sky start to swirl and form an outline of Simba’s father. During this formation the stars briefly align to form the word “Sex” in the night sky.
The official Walt Disney response was to completely deny the use of subliminal placement within the Lion King. As always (you better believe that this isn’t the first time Disney have used subliminal messages!) Disney claim it was not done on purpose, that it was just coincidental.
You might be inclined to believe that if it wasn’t for the 100s of other subliminal messages in disney movies across their range of animations, and movies.
The “Sex” message in the sky is the only suggestion the average person is aware of. But, this word keeps on popping up at various scenes in the background of the movie.
You can see them, spelled out by trees and leaves in the jungle, by blades of grass in the fields, and by rocks on the cliff faces – once you start looking the suggestions seem to be everywhere, practically in all of the scenes.
When you see these multiple messages it all seems a bit more plausible that Disney may using hidden messages in their movies. The question we can not answer though is why they do it?
It could well be just for amusement / a way to make their mark on the movie, or maybe a ploy to try to get people to remember the movie better.
Sadly many of these messages have been edited out for newer DVD re-releases, so you can only see them on the original VHS editions – get yours out and watch closely and let us know if you find any more
