Try Blockbuster’s Free Trial DVD Rental Program

The Blockbuster Free Trial is a 2-week trial of the Blockbuster By Mail or Blockbuster Total Access Program, which are probably the two best online DVD rental program you can take part in. We recommend it over all other DVD rental programs (including Netflix) for many reasons.

What Blockbuster Offers

With Blockbuster Total Access, you get many benefits which are not included with other programs:

  • You receive 1 – 3 DVDs at a time through the mail.
  • Unlimited DVD rentals – This means you can send back DVDs by mail and receive new ones as often as you like throughout the month.
  • Turn in and exchange DVDs by mail or at a store location – In-store exchanges are free, but you can also return the movies by mail (free shipping) and wait for your next movies which usually arrive days later. This way, you are not forced to get DVDs only through the mail or only through the store, as you would with other rental services. Instead, you have the opportunity to reap the benefits of both.
  • No due dates or late fees – You never have to worry about returning the rentals on time, and you can keep a DVD that you received in the mail as long as you like.
  • Over 90,000 titles to choose from – Only Blockbuster can offer such a wide selection.
  • Quick Delivery – DVDs that are placed in your queue are typically in your mailbox within 1 or 2 days.
  • You may terminate the subscription whenever you want.

In almost every way, the Blockbuster Total Access program beats traditional DVD rental programs. For one thing, it is a lot less expensive than most programs assuming you rent more than 2 or 3 videos a month. But the most powerful benefit of the Blockbuster program is that it combines the convenience of renting DVDs by mail with the ability to exchange DVDs at the many Blockbuster stores nationwide. There are not any other programs out there that provide the ability to do in-store exchanges, since Blockbuster is the only video company nationwide that has the number of stores to make an in-store service compatible with a national DVD-by-mail program.

More About The Blockbuster Free Trial

Membership begins with a 2-week Blockbuster Free Trial, then converts to your chosen paid membership at the end of the trail period unless you cancel.  We recommend trying the 2-DVDs at a time Total Access subscription, which comes with 5 in-store monthly exchanges.

Lesser-known Niche Rental Plans are Starting to Rise in Popularity

Online movie rental is my latest dependency. There are simply too many advantages to pass up: I pay for flicks once per month, and I pay a flat fee; I choose my monthly based on how many movies I want to rent at any given time; DVD’s are shipped directly to my door; I can avoid the hassle and expense of video store rentals (because who among us ONLY gets a movie?); and there are never any late fees. You might never need to leave your house again to watch a movie.

Another part of the rental service that I’m finding very convenient is the video on demand. Every service is different, with Blockbuster even offering a dedicated box, but with Netflix, I can stream movies directly to my PC. This is a nice touch and it helps to complement my viewing habits.

With most online DVD rental services, you go to their site and make a list (or queue) of the films you’d like to view. You then rank your films on your list in the order you’d like to receive them. Based on availability and your ranking, the pictures on your list will be sent to you through first class mail.

This is a terrific time and money saver for me. I don’t have to drive to and from the local Blockbuster, worry about missed deadlines, and I always have a movie at the ready when I want one. And I never come home with a bucket of popcorn and a Hershey’s Overload!

Online movie rental is becoming more and more popular, so whether your choice is for mainstream DVD rental, independent rentals, or even online adult DVD rental, there are services out there that are perfect for you. For independent rentals, the most popular service is GreenCine, and Netflix and Blockbuster are battling it out for mainstream rentals.

One reason that some people don’t try online rental is because they don’t want to commit themselves to anything long-term. But for some of the services, like Netflix for example, you can pause your membership at any time, and almost every service allows you to downgrade and upgrade whenever you like.
