Rock n’ Roll High School: This is a 1950s film gone insane. A young rock and roller marshals her associates to battle the repression of new principal Miss Togar. An irresistible, high-effort comedy set to a continuous soundtrack of Ramones music (and a few oldies). P.J. Soles is amazing as the group’s number one fan, Riff Randell. Cast includes P. J. Soles, Vincent Minivan Patten, Clint Howard, Dey Youthful, the Ramones, Mary Woronov, Paul Bartel, and Alix Elias. (93 minutes, 1979)

The Abominable Dr. Phibes: This is an old cheesy horror flick with horror icon Vincent Price playing the eccentric Dr. Phibes. After losing his wife to an unsuccessful surgery, Dr. Phibes dies in a car wreck. Or does he? Everyone is baffled as the surgeons who fail to save Mrs. Phibes are all dying. Vincent Price, Joseph Cotten, Peter Jeffrey, and Hugh Griffith fill out the cast. (1971 Horror/Comedy)

Pay It Forward: A professor designates his scholars to do something to change the planet, which empowers Osment to help 3 individuals, unselfishly. His mommy, a lone parent with a drinking complication, doesn’t comprehend her child’s actions till she meets the professor, and a romance is ignited. This well meaning film doesn’t transfer on its extremely genuine vow; the summarization is particularly unsatisfying. Osment is outstanding. Cast includes Kevin Spacey, Helen Seek, Haley Joel Osment, Jay Mohr, James Caviezel, Jon Bon Jovi, and Angie Dickinson. (122 minutes, 2000)

They Still Call Me Bruce: In-name-only continuation to They Call Me Bruce has a minimum of one thing in ordinary with its predecessor: it’s terrible. This time Yune plays a Korean looking for the American GI who spared him years ago, ending up as an alternative as a large-sibling compute for orphan Mendenhall. Cast includes Johnny Yune, David Mendenhall, Pat Paulsen, Joey Travolta, Robert Guillaume, Bethany Wright, and Carl Bensen. (91 minutes, 1987)

Down Argentine Way: Entertaining 20th Century Fox lyrical with Grable in the film that increased her to stardom dropping in love with slick Argentinean horse breeder Ameche. Miranda is wonderful in her first American film, acting infectious Brazilian melodies with her own band and look out for the Nicholas Brothers, who do a dynamite forte number. Picture postcard color all the way through. Cast includes Don Ameche, Betty Grable, Carmen Miranda, Charlotte Wood, Carrol Naish, Henry Stephenson, and Leonid Kinskey. (90 minutes, 1940)

The Mighty Ducks: Arrested for drunk driving, hot shot lawyer Gordon Bombay is ordered by the coach to coach a peewee league hockey team. The team he must coach is worst team in the league, the Mighty Ducks. He somehow resurrects their season, and they go all the way to the championship game. Can they win it all?

Night Must Fade: Cerebral try to match ability of primordial, this redo is too apparent and theatrical for some credibility. Cast includes Albert Finney, Susan Hampshire, Mona Washbourne, Sheila Hancock, Michael Medwin, Joe Gladwin, and Martin Wyldeck. (105 minutes, 1964)

Lightning in a Bottle: Vigorous Blues tribute performance film, orchestrated in 2003 at Stereo City Music Chamber, opens with an onstage intro by Martin Scorsese. Then it tears up the joint. What little backstage material there is demonstrates gripping, although wisely lets the actors over-power an approximately chronological history characterizing both war horse and modern-day entertainers. For a blues film, this is a pretty good flick. (106 minutes, 2004)

Saw Two: Sadistic continuation finds fiendish mastermind “Jigsaw” keeping a group of “outsiders” prisoner in a spooky, booby-snared home. Lots of gore for fans, as the sufferers race the watch when a fatal fuel fi1ls their lungs. Wahlberg is the steel cop on the case, although could he match brains with this twirled madman? Cast includes Darren Lynn Bousman, Donnie Wahlberg, Shawnee Smith, Tobin Bell, Frank G. Glenn Plummer, Dina Meyer, Emmanuel Vaugier, Beverley Mitchel, Erik Knudsen, and Tim Burd. (102 minutes, 1966)
